Plant-based ultrarunner wins famous endurance competition.
Harvey Lewis, a 45-year-young vegan athlete from the United States, earned first place in the Badwater 135 ultramarathon in California, which is dubbed the toughest foot race in the world. The 217-kilometer-long route, which included running in temperatures of 38 degrees Celsius, takes the competitors from Death Valley, which lies 85 meters below sea level, to Whitney Portal at a height of over 2,500 meters above sea level, and incorporates uphill climbing on three mountain ranges. With a finishing
time of 25 hours, 50 minutes and 23 seconds, this is Mr. Lewis’s second time
winning the race. A vegetarian since 1996 and a vegan since 2016, the top
athlete attributes his success to his diet, which ensures him faster recovery
times, more energy, and easier digestion.
A big congratulations, Harvey Lewis,
for your admirable achievement. May your plant-strong lifestyle inspire many
others to step into the path of compassion, in Divine brilliance.
